THE HISTORY
of the

The Herp Shop™ dates back to the late 80’s when it was created by Brian and was operated from a caravan, shared with his son Brett, from their home in Ardeer, a western suburban area of Melbourne. The main goods sold were Landis & Gyr thermostats, Blue Light bulbs, mice and a small selection of imported books from A.V.S in the U.S.A.

With an obvious lack of herpetological goods available in Australia, the Barnetts’ sought supplies from overseas to update the requirements of Australias’ herpetoculturists. Sole Importer and Australasian distributor of the excellent Rep-Cal products was a hallmark in their search for the quality products.

Brian Barnett has a history in herpetology dating back over 55 years, no doubt having ‘been there and done that’, seen many changes occur and products born and implemented over this period. He has maintained a large private collection throughout this time He was manager of a major reptile park in N.S.W in the late 60’s and early 70’s. He was manager of the animal house at the Pharmacy College in Melbourne from the mid 70’s until recently. He was President of the Victorian Herpetological Society from 1978 to 2000 (with a break in the middle). Hands on experience has resulted in the Herp Shop™ operating for the herpetologist of today, with products that are tried and tested, not gimmicky or a waste of money.
